What is an "alula"?

The "alula" can be seen in the ovals.

The alula, also known as the "bastard wing" is a small important structure on a bird's wing.

It is movable, made up of three to five feathers attached to the bird's thumb.

The alula allows birds to be able to control airflow over their wings. Allowing for better maneuverability at low speeds and which helps to prevent stalling during landing. The alula ensures that birds can navigate the skies with precision and grace.

Modern Times

Our Story

At Alula Sky, I believe that everyone has the potential to take flight. Inspired by the alula - a small but vital part of a bird's wing that ensures smooth, stable flight - I set out to create a platform that guides aspiring pilots through the complex journey to the skies. Founded by a passionate aviator who overcame numerous hurdles to achieve their own flight dreams, my goal is to simplify the path to aviation for others. Whether you aim to fly planes, helicopters, seaplanes, whether you want to purse military or civilian aviation, I provide the resources, support, and expert mentorship you need. My commitment extends beyond borders, helping individuals navigate the aviation certification process in the U.S. and around the world. Join me at Alula Sky and let me be your alula on your journey to the skies.

Where to Find Us

Alula Sky is here to challenge the “this is just how it is” mentality of aviation. Why is aviation besides airlines and military, such an unspoken career field? Why do people in aviation not like how the field is yet they just shrug like evolution and change in a field is impossible?
